FIRST INTERNATIONATIONAL THEATER FESTIVAL “I AND MY OTHERS”
“THE ACTOR AND HIS SPECTACLE”
The Haydée Pino Acting Studio (FTAHP), in its Sala DelArte chapter, jointly with the School of Performing Arts Faculty of Arts at the University of Los Andes and the Faculté des lettres, arts et sciences humaines de L’Université Nice Sophia Antipolis (France) and with the University of Los Andes invite to the first international theater festival “I and my others” “The actor and his spectacle”, to be held in Mérida (Venezuela) between Tuesday 20th and Friday 23nd October 2015.
This first edition, artistic and academic of the first international theater festival “I and my others” “The actor and his spectacle” will bring together a great number of actors and actresses, both national and international, with the purpose of appraising and rewarding the creative work of the actor. In this sense, the actor as the only creator will have to conceive the totality of his spectacle on the stage: aesthetic proposal, scenery elements, wardrobe, make up, sound, illumination, staging, conception of the characters, etc. Likewise, in this first installment the Festival will promote workshops, round tables, and other academic activities, that promote the interchange between the invited specialist, contestants, and the general public.
Bases:
1) Of actors and actresses. Participants must be over 18 years old, with no age limits or special conditions. They will participate with a single work of his authorship in which they represent two or more characters. The actor must be the creator of the aesthetic proposal and the general design of the play; the actor may include a co-director.
2) Of the play and the music. If the case may be priority will be given to the actors and actresses that are the authors of the play and music. If the play and music is authored by a living third person, the actor must provide the authorization of that or those people. Adaptations of the plastic arts ambit (painting, drawing, sculpture, dance, etc.) or from literature (poetry, narrative, etc.) of living third person also need their authorization, excepting those adaptations that are part of humanity cultural heritage.
3) About the play. The topic of the play is up to the author and the performance may be supported by the use of video, photography, fine arts, etc. In no case can there be on stage another performer except the author and his characters, the staging of the play may not use scenery, instead props may be used. The works must adjust to the technical resources of the theater: twenty swiveling white lights, sound system, dressing rooms, stage space of approximately 90 square meters and technical staff for sound and illumination. The duration of the work must be between 10 minutes (minimum) and 20 minutes (maximum). The plays accepted will be performed once during the Festival. Assembling and disassembling of the play cannot exceed 15 minutes.
4) Of the language of the play. The works competing in the Festival can be in any language as long as a translation in Spanish is annexed in the postulation. The same applies for the authorization of third parties with regard to the intellectual property of plays and music.
5) Of the rights of the foundation. All the plays presented during the Festival will be videotaped by FTAHP staff and will become part of the foundation archive.
6) Postulation period. Postulations will be accepted between 07-01 and 07-03-2015. These have to be e-mailed to fintyoymisotros@gmail.com. It is mandatory, on submitting, to attach a synopsis in Spanish and a resume; likewise a staging sketch must be provided. The organizers, if they deem it necessary, may ask for any extra material they think essential for the proposal. No postulations will be accepted outside the stated period.
7) On the selection of the competing plays. An ad hoc committee designated by the FATHP will do the selection of the plays to participate.
8) On the announcement of the selected plays. Publication of the selected works will be on May 7th, 2015 by e-mail and the Facebook page Festival Internacional de Teatro “Yo y mis Otros”
9) On the venue of the Festival. The venue for the staging of the plays will be the “Sala DelArte” in Mérida City, Venezuela. The “Sala DelArte” as an experimental
and alternative theater, has a capacity for 110 seats that can be arranged frontally, circularly, diagonally or as required by the author.
10) Of the awards. In view that the first international theater festival “I and my others” “The actor and his spectacle” is of a competitive nature, awards will be for best spectacle “ the actress and her others” and for best spectacle “the actor and his others”. The jury may also give up to 3 special mentions.
11) Of the costs. All actors and actresses selected as competitors in the Festival will not have to pay for assisting to the shows nor will they receive any payment for their play. However they will have to pay in order to participate in the workshops they want to attend. On the other hand all aspects of travel and living expenses will be borne y themselves.
Those that do not comply with these bases will not be able to participate in the Festival.
